Half Marathon Near Statesville & Troutman: The Forest Run at Lake Norman State Park
This one's in your park. The 8th Annual Lean30 Lake Norman Half Marathon Forest Run & 5K starts and finishes at the Lake Norman picnic ground, a 7-minute drive from Troutman and about 17 from Statesville. Half marathon, 5K, June 5, 2027.

Roll out of bed
Race-morning packet pickup opens at 6:30 AM at the beach parking lot. From Troutman you can be there in the time it takes to tie your shoes twice.
Two loops, no surprises
The half is two laps of the same paved course, so you know exactly what's coming the second time around.
Shade and hills
Tall trees over most of the course, and enough roll in the roads to keep it honest. Beautiful and a little brutal.
Bring the family
The 5K starts five minutes after the half. Strollers start at the back, and kids under 4 walk free.
Getting there
From Troutman: State Park Rd straight to the park, about 4 miles and 7 minutes.
From Statesville: US-21 South and E Monbo Rd, about 10 miles and 17 minutes.
Inside the park, follow signs to the beach parking lot, not the visitor center.
Timing tip: Statesville half marathoners, leave by about 6:45 AM. Troutman, 7:00 is plenty.

Where exactly do I park?
The beach parking lot inside Lake Norman State Park, 759 State Park Rd, Troutman. Not the visitor center. Packet pickup is there too, from 6:30 AM race morning.
How hilly is it?
It rolls. The roads wind up and down under the trees the whole way. Nothing technical, all pavement.
Is there a time limit?
Half marathoners need to finish by 11:00 AM, which is 3.5 hours from the start.
Does it count toward the Lake Norman Half Marathon Series?
Yes. It's one of the series races, and there's no separate series fee.
